I'm sure some of you have seen the Disc Launcher set that Nerf released some time ago, but you haven't seen one quite like this before. I spent many many hours doing an all around awesome matching paint job for the complete set, along with the usual AR and post removal for the Element.
I always loved the red and gold paint scheme, and adding a bit of silver to it really gave it a good solid metal feel. All things very reminiscent and perfectly fitting an Iron Man themed paint job.
I hope you like it, as it turned out much better than I myself expected. I plan on making a video sometime shortly, and when I can think of an appropriate price I'll put it up in the 'For Sale' section of the blog; but until then I'm going to happily enjoy this fully functioning, and now completely awesome Disc Launcher set.
I like it, but it looks pinkish. Is it really that color, or is the camera playing tricks? :P
ReplyDeleteIt appears slightly pink under some light. It's a metallic red though. I was trying to get as little pink-ish appearance as I could, but couldn't really get my camera to do it right.
DeleteNice job man! I wish I could paint good...
ReplyDeleteThis is TripsEX from reddit.
ReplyDeleteLike it a lot, but I was expecting the glowing power core when you opened it up. That would be a pretty crazy touch.
I never thought of that. Would definitely be awesome. I'd have to look into figuring that sort of thing out.
DeleteHey, I know this is a bit old, but I'm curious how you got the effect of the black and red.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like red base with black dry brushing, but I'm not entirely sure how you got the pattern since it doesn't look like just straight brush strokes, it looks like you did something more to it, but I can't tell.
I really like the look though -- hence why I ask about it -- awesome job.
It was actual dry brush red acrylic on a black base. It was a metallic red, which is why it has an interesting sheen to it, but it was all done with dry brushing. I brushed it on thin to allow some of the black to show through, and I tried my best to smooth out any visible brush strokes.
DeleteThanks for the interest ^_^
