Anime Banzai 2012

It's been a couple months since we posted anything, but that doesn't mean that we haven't been working on anything. We aren't dead, just busy with the convention like we previously posted. I went through a job change along with all of this as well, so things have been busy when it comes to extra time.

Mass Maverick Production

Anime Banzai is coming up here in Utah in about 2 months, and so we have a lot of work to do. We have a good 90-ish guns that we want to have done by the time the convention comes around. This is going to be difficult since most of the blasters need to be taken apart and prepped before they can be painted, as well as we want to clear coat as many as possible. On top of all this I am trying my best to get a different job, and will probably going through a massive job and schedule change in the coming month. I don't know what time I'll have once that hits.

Basically, we have everything you see to do, as well as ten more mavericks to paint.

Back in the Game With a Hornet That'll Blow Your Mind!

Hello again everyone!
So, everything's settled, and I'm getting back up to speed. I had a quick commission I had to finish before a steampunk convention last week, and it spurred a quick recovery to the Nerf world for me. Selling a few vintage things I found also helped get me a few extra bucks to get back in the game.
I know some of you liked the last Hornet that we did here at Neo-Creations. Well, get ready to drop that jaw when you look at the most recent one, and probably the best faux-wood work we have done to date!

So, without further ado...

Hiatus Coming To An End

I'm sure you have all been wondering where I went. So have I.

I have been ridiculously busy since even a little before my birthday back in May. The reason? My wife and I bought our first house, and it's been an adventure trying to get everything going again, on top of the 10 hour/6day a week schedule I've been battling at work.

I still haven't had time to get any of my Nerf stuff unpacked. I have commissions that have been waiting for way too long now, and I have been overly exhausted from all of this, along with trying to get my 51 Chevy Pickup up and going.

So... busy busy... However I will need to kick it into high gear. I promised a commission finished by this weekend, so I gotta stick to it. It is another Nerf Hornet, but this one will be even more awesome than the last. I had originally chosen a winner for the giveaway (Chris), but he has yet to get back to me, so I will choose someone else, and dig up the blaster to get it sent.

So... Hiatus... Yeah...

Just A Couple Of Mavericks

We at Neo Creations have been busy coming up with a few new Mavericks, and have come away with some pretty excellent results. The ideas for these came shortly after visiting the Treasure Island hotel & casino in Las Vegas at the beginning of April, and took a few weeks to complete. We decided to make a sort of navel themed gun, as well as a bit of an undead pirate blaster. Alongside this we got to work making the replica of my wife's Maverick for the giveaway on my upcoming birthday.

They are all still fully function with AR/Post Removal on the Navy and Undead blasters, and AR removal on the two others. There really isn't much more that I can say about them as the pictures really speak for themselves.

Happy Birthday Giveaway!

Good news everyone!
Today is April 22 which means....!!!! It's not my birthday yet!
My birthday is in exactly one month! May 22! And I wanna celebrate a little bit hobbit style in that I am going to be giving away a gift to one lucky person!
As you all know I have a rather extensive collection of things, and quite the knack for awesomeness. So in keeping with the awesomeness I am going to be doing giveaways not only on my birthday, but we will signal that as the start for a bi-monthly giveaway!

To sign up for the giveaway you have to be a watcher on my blog, and leave a comment on this entry. Also, even though it's not necessary, I would love to know, out of the blasters I have done, which is your favorite.

You can see the most extensive collection of my pictures on deviantart account or look at what I've done here on the blog and decide from there. It's always great to get feedback on what I've done, and see what people have liked the most.

So this is my birthday gift and beyond to you!
A replication of my wife's awesome personal Maverick Rev-6!

S.L.A.N.G. Salt Lake Nerf Geeks First Battle of the Season

Today I finally got my chance to do a little warring with other nerfers!
I found out about S.L.A.N.G. while on the NerfRev site, and was finally able to meet a few of them when I went out to one of our local parks. Weather was sunny, about 83 degrees, and hardly any wind. We had a small group this time, but it was mainly because the S.L.A.N.G. season opener was originally planned for last Saturday, but had to be changed on account of weather.

Neo-Creations Shift in Products

Hello! After careful consideration, we at Neo-Creations have decided to shift from modifying Nerf blasters to creating plushie toys!

Nerf Disc Launcher Set - Custom Iron Man Paint Job

I'm sure some of you have seen the Disc Launcher set that Nerf released some time ago, but you haven't seen one quite like this before. I spent many many hours doing an all around awesome matching paint job for the complete set, along with the usual AR and post removal for the Element.

My Raider's Rebellious Paint Job

So I decided with my Raider I wanted to try something new. I usually go with steampunk-ish styles, and faux-wood additions. This time I wanted to do something a little more radical than that. I received some inspiration after watching an episode of Samurai Champloo which involved a bunch of old Edo era punks and graffiti.

Un-Sight-ly: Too Attached To Your Attachments?

Now we are all aware of the many different accessories that Nerf has released over the years for their N-Strike lineup. There are sights and lights to spare, but which ones should you use?

There are tactical lights, tactical sights, tactical scope, barrels and clips upon clips. Some came with the guns, and some came packaged separately.

My First Pinpoint Sight

Well, it really pays to know Spanish today.
Why? You may ask. Because for about a third the usual price on eBay I was able to pick up an N-Strike Pinpoint Sight Mission Kit! It's all thanks to the extra little lingo I learned while living in Spain.

I got this baby off of the Mexican eBay site, Mercadolibre; and it was significantly cheaper than any of them I've seen on eBay. The most expensive cost was just shipping it here, but even then it was still a fraction of a shipped one within the states.

Anyway, I'm still not sure what I will put it on. I don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon, and you can be sure that if I do stick it on something I sell, the value of that blaster will go up.

My Hornet Giveaway Arrived At Destination

I'm just going to post up real quick a video that NerfPause made. He finally received the custom Nerf Hornet that I sent him, after winning it on Bazookafied's weekly giveaways. It took twice as long as I was told it would, and I was worried it may have gotten lost. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this video just as much as it appears NerfPause is enjoying the Hornet.

One of the things he mentions in the video is a lack of clear coat. This was one of my older paint jobs and I have been clear coating things for a little bit now. All aside, it was a mistake that I used to make in the past, but has been remedied because I realized without the clear coat I wasn't giving people nearly the reliable quality that I had originally wanted to.
I was very happy to see this video, as it is basically feedback to me as well. He likes the paint job, but I need to work on a few things to improve upon it. It's things like this video that help me improve to give people the best I can.

Spy Gear Rocket Blaster Re-Barrel

Hello there everyone!
I have finally completed my very first re-barreling of a gun. I picked up a Spy Gear Rocket Blaster at the local thrift store for $2 on Friday, and the moment I saw it, I knew what had to be done.
It was one of the easiest mods I have yet to do. Just took a coupler, a length of 1/2 cpvc and some epoxy.

I opened the gun up, chopped the barrel down, and glued a coupler on. That's it!

Nerf Hailfire. What Does It Really Look Like?

So everyone,
There is news of a new series of "Elite" N-Strike blasters from Nerf. The biggest and baddest being the Nerf Hailfire. The problem is you may not really be able to tell what your seeing from the teaser video. So I took some of my artistic talent and did my best to recreate what was visible, so that you can have a better look at the new Nerf Hailfire.

The original video showed this.

And I turned it into this.

Project Who: Alpha Meson Blaster - Part 3

Hello again,
I just have a little bit of an update on progress so far, with a little bit of a write up as well.
Now the original Alpha Meson Blaster was a non-functional prop, as well as any replicas I've seen made of the blaster. This has always been something that has bugged me, as I always wanted to keep it functional; but because of the way things are set up it wouldn't be able to prime like a Nerf Scout normally does. Thus has begun my adventure to modify this one to shoot differently, while keeping as close to the look of the blaster.
I realized the only feasible way of making this functional would be to prime it from the rear. So whether or not you want to make a functional Alpha Meson Blaster yourself, or just want a rear priming scout, this is the write up for you.

First you need to drill holes through the back of the blaster. Be wary of the screw hole. Because this is the only way to secure the blaster from the back you need to keep that intact.

Not Just For Nerf

Hello there everyone,
Today I'd like to bring you all something a little different, but only slightly so. Instead of a Nerf blaster, this time it's an Air Soft M14!
My brother in law has, for some time now, wanted us to paint up one of his air soft guns. This has changed over time on exactly which one, but eventually we got a hold of one of them; an M14.
Basically we took what looked like this:

And made it look like this:

A Long Time Coming: The Nerf Longshot

Hey everyone!
Great news today, as I finally finish up the 6+ hour job of customizing my Longshot CS-6!
I am way happy this one is finished, and that it turned out so well. I'll be sad to see it go when I sell it, but that's the way this works. The money from this will help me keep doing this hobby of mine.

Anyway, without further ado, here are the pictures.

Work Of Progress: Longshot CS-6

Hello everyone,
This is just a quick progress update on another one of my projects. The Nerf Longshot CS-6
I never realized just how much gun there was until I got it apart and started spraying a base coat on the pieces to be painted. It took about 4 cans and an hour to get everything well sprayed. Now another 2 hours into it, just hand painting some details, I finally realized how much there is; as I still have a lot more to do.

My First Video Tutorial: Scout Mod

I finally uploaded my little tutorial video on how I modified my nerf scout. This was basically at someones request or else I probably wouldn't have done it.
There are a lot of other scout mod videos out there, like Lord Drac's that are already easily understandable, but who knows, maybe someone will like mine more.

Project Who: Alpha Meson Blaster - Part 2

Well, it's been about a few weeks since I first mentioned the Alpha Meson Blaster project from Dr.Who.
I am pleased to tell you that I have made some progress since then.
So without further ado, here is said progress.

First I took the blaster apart. I want this to be a functioning blaster when I'm finished so I felt it was important to get an inside glimpse so i don't cut through anything vital. Luckily, there was nothing in the way of where I was goin to do the chop chop.

New Logo For Neo Creations!

I spent some time and used the great design knowledge bestowed upon me by 2 semesters at Salt Lake Community College, and combined them with my natural creativity to finalize the official Neo Creations NC logo!
I'd love to get some opinions on what you guys think. I obviously love my logo, and love is blind, so I may be missing something.
Here is a clean picture of it for you to critique.

Thanks for your time and opinions.

Stark Rayven Mad!

I've finally finished it! And much to my pleasant surprise, my usual steam punk style worked out pretty well. With a little more splash of color than I usually put in, I feel like it gained the perfect amount of colorful accent to make it work.
This will be up on eBay probably by the weekend so stay tuned!

My New Work Space! Finally!!!

Today is an exciting day for me! Why?! Because I have finally reclaimed a section of the office space I have for the sole purpose of modding and storing my overly massive Nerf collection!
It is really hard to explain how awesome this is in words so I will do little more than show you just what I mean.

Top Shelf: 3 older nerf blasters followed by a watergun, 2 nerf reactors, and 2 more super soakers.
Second Shelf: Tommy 20, Tek 10, Tommy 12, 3 Dart guns, 2 super soakers, 2 fireflies.
Third Shelf: 2 scouts, 2 strike fires, 5 nitefinders, 2 vigilons, 4 mavericks.
Bottom Shelf: Vulcan, 2 Rapid fires, 1 double shot, 1 hawk, 2 hunters.
Ground: 2 longstrikes, 2 recons, 1 raider, 1 longshot, 1 nitron.

On top of the Piano: 8 Tek 6, 1 Rogue, 1 3-shot thing, 1 manta, 75 vulcan shells, and a random assortment of squirtguns.

On the desk: 1 half done rayven, 1 finished Maverick, 1 finished hornet, 1 bin of assorted attachments, 1 bin of assorted clips. (and then the previously spoken of ground assortment)

So now you see all the space I have! Which makes me happier than the fact I have an obsessively large amount of guns which basically overfill all the space I have now created!
Now if only I had a heated garage in which I could paint all my creations then I would be in the biz-nass.

As always, thanks for watching.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

My Maverick for sale!

So this is just a quick post update.
Today I put my uber cool awesome snaptastic custom Nerf Maverick on eBay for anyone interested!
This is the link ---> BUY THIS GUN!!!
It is auction style, no reserve, and with a Buy it now set at $39.99
I'd love to see this go to a new home, as well as I could use a few extra bucks in my nerf modding pocket, as I spent my last $40 nerfing dollars on the awesome in the previous blog post.
Here's a pic of the Maverick in case you forgot it, and can't scroll down the page to view my first post.

You know you want to buy it. And it being no reserve means you may get it for a bit less than what I'd normally expect to sell it for. Hurry quick, however, as I have it for sale locally.

Gotta love classifieds

Today I had the fortunate fortune of landing me quite the mother load.
For a mere $40 I got a good sized lot of nerf guns, but here's the thing. After a closer inspection it turns out that most, if not all of them have at least light mods already done to them. This is both a good thing and a bad thing though, as there is quite a bit of nasty nasty hot gluing that I need to work through to open up these guns so I can clean them up for eventual painting. I also have to fix the firefly and the longshot because something was botched.
The firefly doesn't prime, and the longshot won't pull back far enough for the clip to get inside. So someone has given me both a blessing and a curse in one. If it wasn't for the low price, I wouldn't have considered buying pre-modded guns. My main point for this is the big one. I don't know, until I open each gun up, what they've taken out, and what they messed with.
Anyway, here is what $40 worth of lightly modded guns look like. Enjoy.

Ravin' with my Rayven

Hello there!
Today I would like to update you a little on another one of my current projects.
Yes, the Alpha Meson Blaster will happen. No, I don't know when it will be finished cause I have been too occupied by having a life to make it to a hardware store during waking hours, and Wal-mart doesn't carry what I need.
My current project comes in light of a joyous occasion in which I found a Nerf Rayven CS-18 at my local Target store, and found out it wasn't worth the money to just turn it around on eBay for the measly $10 profit i might get.
So I am tearing it down, removing some of the locks (cause I know you kids love it) and painting it with all the badassery my genius can come up with. (A.K.A. probably another steam punk paintjob, but they're awesome like that and you know it!)
Here's a few pics of my progress so far.

How many people do you know that will go to ridiculous extents, tearing down the gun, taping off parts, etc... for the sake of a paint job? Well you know of one now. Why do I do this? Because, I am committed to doing the best paint jobs I can, both inside and out! I made the mistake of painting my first Recon on the outside only, and you could see all the nasty orange in the clip area because I was inexperienced. Well, that's not gonna happen, especially on a gun such as this.
Look for updates here or on my deviantart and be sure to keep watching as I will be posting up the eBay auction once it is finished. You know you want it, so keep in touch.
That is all, and now I go back to the thing called life as I wait for the weather to warm up so I can spray my gun.
Thanks for watching.

Project Who: Alpha Meson Blaster

I have a pretty challenging commission ahead of me now.
I have been asked to take this
and turn it into this

In case you don't recognize the gun, it is the Alpha Meson Blaster from Dr.Who.
This isn't a project that hasn't been done by others in the past, so I have a decent amount of source material to look at for the build, but it will be the first project in which I will have to custom fabricate a number of parts.
If you couldn't tell by looking at the handles, the Alpha Meson Blaster was, in fact, made from a Nerf Scout IX-3. Obviously it's been heavily modified, and chances are that it won't be a functional blaster once it's done. Unless the function you want is picking up all the hot convention chics with your Alpha Meson Blaster, and making all of your former friends jealous. (former as in they'll probably kill you to get it)
The scouts came in a pack of two, so that means I will in fact be making two of these!
The first is already spoken for, but the second can be had for a mear $85 (+shipping and handling)
I'll post up as the project goes along so you can get the inside scoop on the build. So keep watching!

Welcome to Neo Creations!

Hello all you Nerfers out there. My name is Ben Allred and this is Neo Creations. I customize Nerf blasters, as well as Buzz Bee blasters, squirt guns, and anything else I might just get my hands on. I am mostly versed, and very well indeed, in steam punk paint jobs, but plan to fill this blog with other creations such as video game and movie inspired customization. I will also be doing my best to get a hold of new guns as they come out, and giving you all a look as I test them out, paint them all snazzy looking, and modifying them in the simplest ways I know how; all the while passing on this useful and hopefully appealing information.

But enough with the worded introduction.

I feel it wouldn't be wholly proper to introduce myself without examples of my work. So here you go.

So there you go. A great look at what has been and what is to come. If you would like to check out the rest of my mods feel free to head over to my deviantart where you can find all sorts of cool stuff, along with prices if you feel so inclined to commission me for one of these fine styled blasters.

And on one last note, I am currently working on getting an actual website up and running as well. So keep  lookout in the near future.
